Home That's Nowhere
2020
8" x 10"
Acrylic Ink, Stonehenge Paper
"Home That's Nowhere" is a depiction of my childhood home, now no longer in our family. The work features colors reminiscent of my childhood. The house is floating to symbolize a place that is no longer available to me and can only be visited in my dreams, thus it is depicted based solely on how I remember it. Simplistic forms and minimal detail were chosen to allow the viewer to engage in the art by inserting themselves into the house, applying their own memories, experiences, and interactions to the space. In other words, I wanted it to feel as though it could be anyone's house, even though it is modeled after my own.
